COMMISSIONS

Commissioning Artwork

I enjoy doing custom pet pieces for people who enjoy my style but want something a little more personalized, and from time to time make them available depending on my workload. I use quality materials and with an eye for detail, your artwork will be created with the same collaborative conversation, care and personal attention I use for all my pieces. You can follow me on my Facebook art page, and I often share the progress shots as I'm working on a piece.

I create my commissions in acrylics only as oils can take months to harden. If multiple copies of an artwork are required then we can discuss having prints made from the one custom artwork I produce.

The Process starts with the

IDEA
We will have an e-mail or private facebook conversation about what you would like me to create. This conversation will help develop your idea, and nut out any issues I can foresee with your requirements. (I do not provide photoshop mockups at this stage of the process).

PAYMENT
Once we agree on a proposal, you hire me by paying the 50% deposit to begin work (I will send a PayPal invoice) and making payment.

PROVIDE ALL THE INFO
If a portrait has been commissioned, you will need to provide me with high quality photographs via e-mail. I rely on being able to see the detail in photographs so blurry, distant shots are of no use. I also prefer to replicate an image in my style from an original photo, and while I can merge a number of images together to form one composition, one photo where the subject is positioned correctly to work with the artwork is necessary.

THE WORK
After we have completed the items above, I begin work. "Work," means any tangible work product, including but not limited to color studies, photoshop mockups, sketches and any drawing or painting on the chosen canvas type. I always keep my clients updated on the progress of their piece. I like to post my work in progress on social networking sites, so if the painting is a gift that needs to be a surprise, let me know in advance.

For a single image portrait on canvas or canvas board charges vary with the canvas size. Please note that canvas board is more flexible than a canvas as it's usually around 6mm deep but is much cheaper to send internationally. It's very suited to framing (I would recommend framing with a gap between the glass and the canvas board to avoid condensation), although it can be hung as is.

Items are sent locally via Courier, NZ Post will no longer send artwork via Standard Mail or Airmail for overseas deliveries. I use Pack N Send for international deliveries, they can be expensive but are insured and immaculately packed for safe delivery.

Allow 4-6 weeks for creation before it is ready for delivery, we can discuss timeframes when we're sorting out the commission.

Artwork is satin varnished to seal and protect it

A minimum 50% deposit is required in order to begin work and prices will be quoted dependent on requirements.

Multiple images on the same canvas will incur an additional cost, you will be quoted ahead of proceeding with the commission.
Other sizes and substrates may be available on occasion at slightly different prices.
50% deposit required in order to begin work (non-refundable once work begins).
Shipping and any insurance required are not included in the commission price unless stated.
